Liang Shijie: Society needs to keep everyone''s uneven cognitive decline
The fire broke out in June, and the college entrance examination came, and immediately after the exhausting and scratchy college entrance exam volunteering season, Zhang Xiaofeng, whom the public viewed and trusted, stopped broadcasting at a crucial moment. The streetlights of countless parents and students suddenly go out. How is it good?
Maybe life is like choosing a profession. Popular is not always popular, unknown is not often unknown, and the door that is always open will close occasionally. Oh, this is impermanence!
In this complex world, society is like a large and sophisticated machine, with each component having its own unique function and location, which jointly supports the whole operation. Just like a symphony, it requires both a vigorous violin and a steady cellist, and it requires a resonant tambourine that strikes the soul. The same is true of society, which needs to maintain the uneven cognitive decline of each individual because it is these differences that make up the diversity and vitality of society.
Imagine what a picture it would be if all people in a society shared the same understanding. Perhaps it will be a world of extreme "harmony" but lifeless. Everyone is like a copy-and-paste puppet, losing the ability to think independently and the source of innovation. Such a society, like a stagnant water, although calm on the surface, lacks the flowing vitality and the rhythm of life.
In fact, the composition and functioning of society depends on this difference in cognition. Someone is good at analysing international strategies and planning a blueprint for the country''s future. Others carried guns and defended the peace of the country with their flesh and blood. In the money printing plant, someone silently printed money, maintaining the bloodline of the economy. In the financial sector, there are people who are sharp and controlling the flow of capital. These different roles and perceptions together make up a multifaceted picture of society.
As the ancients say, "harmony is different." This statement profoundly reveals the importance of social diversity. A healthy society is not one that requires everyone to be the same, but one that seeks consensus in differences and respects differences in consensus. Like a beautiful symphony, the different instruments, although different in tone, can be harmoniously integrated under the guidance of the conductor to produce moving melodies.
Take technological innovation as an example, and every major technological breakthrough in history is the result of the collision and convergence of different cognitions. Einstein''s theory of relativity broke down Newton''s absolute view of space-time and opened up new frontiers in physics. Jobs'' innovative thinking combined technology and art perfectly to create the glory of the Apple empire. These great achievements were born out of the intersection of different cognitions.
Furthermore, social progress requires different levels of cognition and roles. Senior officials formulate policies and lead the way. Civilians, on the other hand, put it into practice. Without the vision of senior officials, society may lose its way. Without the hard work of civilians, no good vision is a roof over the sky. Just like a building, it needs both the blueprints of the designer and the bricks and tiles of the construction workers.
Of course, differences in cognition also bring challenges and conflicts. But as the old saying goes, "Gentlemen are gentlemen but different." We should learn to seek common ground in differences and compromise in conflicts. Rather than trying to eliminate differences, we want the same. Because it is these differences that make our society more colorful, more vibrant and more hopeful.
The data also support this view. According to the theory of multi-intelligence, each person has different intelligence advantages, such as language, logic, space, music, etc. These different intellectual strengths form the basis of social diversity. When we take full advantage of the intelligence of each individual, the overall effectiveness of society will be maximized.
Wryly, if all people became "saints," who would carry the litter? Who''s going to ride in the sedan? Who will command it? Who''s going to set the course? A society full of "saints" may look beautiful, but it doesn''t work. For although the "saints" have a unified consciousness, their desires are extremely low, and they are full without eating or drinking. Isn''t such a society becoming a paradise, but it also loses the firework and life of the earth?
In short, society needs to maintain the uneven cognitive decline of everyone. Because it is these differences that make our society more diverse; It is these differences that drive the progress and development of society; It is these differences that give each of us the opportunity to shine in our own fields and to collectively compose the great celebration of our society. Let us cherish these differences, respect them, and seek common ground within them to create a better future together.
