The great doctor returns home, and his love connects the two places: the spirit of Chinese medicine is passed on from generation to generation.

From May 27 to 31, 2025, a meaningful special event called "End of the Dragon Boat Festival" was held in Shuangliu Village, Xinji City, Hebei Province and Beijing, respectively, to jointly remember Mr. Jiao Shude, a Chinese medicine clinician and educator, and to pass on his great medical spirit and benefit the hometown.

On May 27, on the 103rd anniversary of Mr. Jiao Shude''s birth, the gentle sunshine of Beijing fell gently on the tomb of Mr. Jiao. His disciples, family members, and students gathered to pay tribute to the patriarch of traditional Chinese medicine. They presented flowers, arranged the green plants in front of the tomb, and reminisced about the late master. At the tomb, the disciples shared the teachings and medical stories of Mr. Jiao before him, praising his far-sightedness in the integration of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, as well as his exquisite medical skills. Mr. Jiao''s life was dedicated to healing the sick and saving lives. His medical skills and medical ethics served as a beacon, illuminating the path of traditional Chinese medicine.

Time flies, and in the blink of an eye, the Dragon Boat Festival coincides with the birthday of Dr. Jiao. In Shuangliu Village, Xinji City, a field of golden wheat waves gracefully, as if singing a song of joy for the return of this great doctor. The Chen Yong Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance Team, carrying the spirit of the great doctor, once again set foot on the land that nurtured Dr. Jiao. The villagers, hearing the news, came early, eager to get close to the descendants of the great doctor.

As soon as the experts from the inheriting team arrived at the scene, they immediately got involved in the work of providing free medical services to the villagers. They patiently asked about the patients'' conditions, carefully took pulse, examined the tongue, and performed massages, acupuncture, and other treatments. Every villager who came for treatment received professional and scientific medical advice. An elderly villager over 90 years old said excitedly, "I and Juhui (Jiao Shude) are of the same generation. He is the pride of our Shuangliu Village. Every spring when the flowers bloom, he comes back home. As long as he hears that he is treating the villagers, no matter how tired he is, he has the energy." The villagers'' words were full of respect for Mr. Jiao and gratitude to the inheriting team.

In addition to the free medical examination, the inheriting team also sat together with the villagers to make herbal bags and do health exercises. The experts combined with the characteristics of the Dragon Boat Festival, to the villagers science popularization of traditional Chinese medicine knowledge, explain the diet, living, exercise and other aspects of traditional Chinese medicine health points. The scene interaction is frequent, the atmosphere is warm. 88-year-old Chen Yong old doctor said with emotion: "my father-in-law jiao Shude is the person who helped me to walk on the road of traditional Chinese medicine. I came to his hometown, see the golden wheat field, see the enthusiastic villagers, see the land where he learned the art of acupuncture and moxibustion, I feel deeply the responsibility of the inheritance of traditional Chinese medicine for the health and safety of the people. I want to pass on my father-in-law''s great medical spirit to my disciples, life without end, do not stop doing traditional Chinese medicine."

The free medical consultation in Xinji City, Hebei Province, and the tomb-sweeping activities in Beijing, although they are held in different locations, are connected by the same spirit. The free medical consultation in Xinji City is the continuation of the spirit of "hanging medicine to save the world and saving people" of Professor Jiao in his hometown. The villagers can enjoy the service of traditional Chinese medicine at their doorstep and feel the bloodline inheritance and humanistic care of traditional Chinese medicine. The tomb-sweeping activities in the capital are a tribute to Professor Jiao''s spirit and inject a dynamic spiritual force into the inheritance team.

This "Great Doctor Returns Home" event, which is a joint effort between the two places, is not only a tribute to Mr. Jiao Shude, but also a vivid practice of the inheritance of traditional Chinese medicine. Mr. Jiao once said, "Traditional Chinese medicine is an art that is people-oriented." The inheritance of traditional Chinese medicine has never been separated from the people''s livelihood and the fertile land that nurtures great doctors. It is the Chinese people''s hometown feelings that have been passed down for thousands of years that have given birth to a great doctor''s noble skills and personality.

Mr. Jiao Shude''s life is a shining example of the Chinese medicine cause. His medical skills are exquisite, and his medical ethics are noble, bringing health and hope to countless patients. His great medical spirit, like a brilliant star, illuminates the path of Chinese medicine inheritance. The new generation of Chinese medicine practitioners will uphold Mr. Jiao''s legacy, remain true to their original aspiration, and make unremitting efforts for the development of Chinese medicine and the well-being of the people.

Nowadays, the disciples of Mr. Jiao Shude, following in the footsteps of their predecessors, continue to move forward. They are well aware that the vast and profound academic thoughts of traditional Chinese medicine can only be deeply rooted and go further if they are closely integrated with the livelihood of the people. They will practice the great medical spirit of Mr. Jiao with practical actions, so that traditional Chinese medicine can shine even more brightly in the new era.
